The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. Judges 5 vs.7

This is the scripture that the Lord brought to the mind of Irene Agbana while she was engaged in prayer. Irene immediately knew what it meant – the Lord wanted her to bring together women to engage together in prayer and intercession. Women from all cultures, backgrounds, social standings, and denominations.

Specifically, the vision is to travail to prevail. In other words, engage in a collective effort of intense and laborious prayer and intercession in order to overcome adversity and bring real change to the world. The focus is to overcome the onslaught of attacks from the enemy – attacks on the children and family members of the women involved, as well as attacks aimed at derailing or discouraging women trying to fulfil their prophetic purpose in life, and their destiny in God.

Women Arise and the bi-annual Women Arise meetings (held in the Netherlands) were born from this vision.

Women Arise has a clear objective to intervene through prayer to help children, husbands, and wider family groups. The people who make up Women Arise come together for a common, passionate purpose. This includes connecting to God’s ultimate plan for their own lives as well raising their voices in prayer and intense prophetic worship.

Great and glorious testimonies are the direct result of simply following God’s divine mandate to create the Women Arise movement: children have been freed from addiction; the sick have been healed; children have found forgiveness and peace for their sins; homes have been restored; relationships have been repaired; and spiritual passions and desires for God have been rekindled; all through the power of prayer and prayerful intercession.

Central to the Women Arise movement is the bi-annual Travail to Prevail meetings. This is where men and women of God from both inside and outside the Netherlands come together to make a difference. The enhanced vision of Women Arise is to now follow God’s will to bring the Women Arise movement beyond Rotterdam and the Netherlands and into other towns and cities across Europe, Africa, and Asia. We want to stir women up so they too join with us in prayer and intercession in the steadfast belief that great things happen when women rise up.
